| The rep system on this forum is a little different than what is found on TWC. First there is a Thanks button located in the top right corner of a reply post to a topic. The "Thanks" button is only available to the thread starter. Any post that is "Thanked" will be highlighted in the thread. The user receiving the thanks will get 3 REP points. There is also a + and - symbol in the top right corner of every post that can be clicked on to give the user "plus" rep or "negative" rep. Rep is displayed under the members avatar in posts and on the members profile page.
Thanks = 3 rep points + = 1 plus rep point - = 1 negative rep point
Negative rep is enabled for now. If it becomes a problem it can and will be removed.

EDIT: Only one reply can be "thanked" in each thread

| Wow, that's really cool. Is it possible to replace the number with an icon, just like in TWC? | |

| Nice, I always thought negative Rep was a necessity. Y'know, for all those stupid posts. As long as it's not abused, and even if it is, it's good that you can remove it. Also like the Kudos ("Thanks") option, should help weed out the contributing replies from the useless ones.
The highlight will be visible by everyone, right?

| I dont think we can replace the number with an icon, but ill try to find a hack for it if there is any.
Also, if needed its possible to increase/decrease the amount of rep given per forum, for the thanks button as well

| Is there going to be any restriction on giving rep like there is on TWC? eg. certain number of posts before you are able to give rep and only able to give a certain amount of rep at one time? | |

| There is no option for that, so i dont know if thats possible.
Personally i don't think its really needed, unless people are going to abuse it.

| is there an opt out option.
rep only makes sense on a big board where most people don't know each other.

| Well Roz, we can turn it off if some want. I don't pay attention to it anyway. Its more to get the kiddies excited. lol But you are right about the smallness of the board makingit a bit ackward. Maybe we should try to get a few more people on board and some threads going. I really need to get some needed work put up over here.

| I experimented with negative and positive rep in my days as admin and one result is that negative rep multiplies even if there is no apparant reason for it. I used a new account to help out users but gave him a negative 3 as a starting rep. The rep a few weeks later was negative 12 as apparantly that was enough reason for others to chime in and "punish" without even knowing the reason. You could assume some backfire because of perceived unfriendliness in the replies (there wasn't any reason, but lets just assume) but it still was surprising to me. My conclusion was to deactivate negative rep. | |
